Tour de SoCal 2027
April 6–12, 2027
Santa Barbara · Santa Ynez Valley · Los Angeles
A week of community rides dedicated to our backyard wild lands.
Tour de SoCal is a week of community rides across Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez Valley and Los Angeles. Each day is its own ride that starts and finishes in the same place, so you can join one, some or all of them. The rides are self-supported and social, not races, and they benefit the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, which cares for our trails, wild lands, and their inhabitants.
Ride Schedule
- Tuesday, April 6: Arrival day, no ride
- Wednesday, April 7: Santa Barbara · Gibraltar Road climb
- Thursday, April 8: Santa Ynez Valley
- Friday, April 9: Los Angeles · Mulholland Madness, the biggest ride of the week
- Saturday, April 10: Los Angeles · Social ride
- Sunday, April 11: Calabasas · Trails Forever ride for the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, with gravel
- Monday, April 12: Departure day, no ride
Start locations and routes will be shared early next year.
What to Expect
- Self-supported. Rides use open public roads and some gravel. Carry your own water, food, flat kit and phone. No vehicles follow the rides.
- Expect big climbs. Gibraltar Road and Mulholland Madness are long, steep days. Choose the rides that fit your fitness.
- Ride your own pace. No one leads from the front. Follow the GPS route and regroup at set points. A sweep rider stays at the back.
- Bring the right bike. A gravel bike is the best fit for the week, or run 28–32mm tires on a road bike. Sunday includes gravel.
- Ride safe. Helmets are required on every ride. Obey all traffic laws and ride single file when traffic requires it.
- Show up for the briefing. Each ride starts with a short safety briefing covering the route, hazards and regroup points.
Traveling In
Every rider books their own travel and lodging. Here's what to plan for:
- Arrive Tuesday, April 6. Burbank (BUR) is easiest for the drive north to Santa Barbara. LAX usually has more flights.
- 2 nights in Santa Barbara: Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 4 nights in Los Angeles: Thursday through Sunday. Santa Monica, Sawtelle and Venice are good bases for the weekend rides.
- Fly out Monday, April 12, from LAX or Burbank.
- Plan on a car to get between regions and to each ride's start with your bike.
- Bring your bike if you can. Most airlines take bikes in a case or box for a fee, and bike shipping services can send it ahead. Specialized Santa Monica rents road bikes, but we haven't found a local shop that rents gravel bikes.
